The flutist finished his Masters Degree in flute performance at the Ohio State University under Professor Katherine Borst Jones. He held the position of graduate teaching assistant.
Studying in Russia and Denmark
In 2001, he relocated to Moscow to improve his skills in composition at The Russian Gnesin's Academy of Music. There he started working with pianist Natasha Nikiforova. They began playing as a duo in 2001 under professor Leonid Block in the chamber music course of the Academy. The duo has played in various cities throughout Russia, including the city of Alexandrov. There they performed in the VII and the VIII International Chamber Music Festivals, in March of 2003 and 2004. They performed in Brazil in 2002 / 03 and 04 and also have appearances in Italy, Ukraine and Denmark. In April of 2006, Omar and Natasha were awarded the first prize in the International Chamber Music Competition "XXI Century Art”, in Kiev, Ukraine. Also in 2006 and 2007, in Denmark, Omar had the pleasure of attending classes under professor, pianist Jose Ribera, pupil of Alfred Cortot, a great influence in Omar’s approach to music.
