The Composer  Композитор

Omar was born in 1976. The composer started his studies at the age of ten. In fact, Omar decided to become a musician after watching a score of Mozart's Symphony no. 41, which his father had at home. He became fascinated by the way music could be written and decided to learn how to understand that, then, strange code. One year later he was given his very first instrument, the french horn. Two years more, the piano and finally the flute.

In 1997, he started his undergraduate course at the School of Music in Rio de Janeiro. There he met Brazilian masters of diverse areas. In Rio he had contact with the music of Camargo Guarnieri, Guerra Peixe and Villa-Lobos among other Brazilian composers. He studied with Ernani Aguiar, Marco Pereira and Jorge Armando Nunes who were strong influences at the time.

The USSR/Russian School of Composition

Rapidly after receiving his undergraduate diploma, the composer was invited to develop his skills at the Russian Gnesin's Academy of Music, in Moscow. Omar would study in Russia for 7 years, until 2007.

Professors Kirill Volkov and Gennady Chernov were his teachers. The first was assistant of the genial Aram Khachaturian at the same Academy and the second, pupil of Sergey Prokofiev and Oleg Eiges also at the Gnesin's Academy.

Omar was surprised by the high level of education and astonished with the possibility of receiving knowledge directly from the very best musical "fountain" of the XX century: the Soviet Symphonic School.

In November 2017, Omar was awarded two prizes at the Composers Competition which took place at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He got the second place in the final round and a special prize of the Organizing Comittee for his Sonata No. 1 for Violoncello and Piano. Fadul has also gotten two other prizes, in 2018, at another competition for Composers, at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, including a full concert with his works at the Conservatory, for his Quartet No.1 for Violoncelli.

The Danish School

In 2006 and 2007, in Denmark, Omar had the honor and pleasure of attending classes under pianist, Professor José Ribera, who is a pupil of Alfred Cortot and a magnificent teacher and pianist. Professor Ribera had great influence on Fadul's musical understanding and interpretation.
